The actor plans to cash in on the success of the reality television show, turns it into a crime thriller for the silver screen
Akshay Kumar has decided to break into the genre of realistic films as well. The actor will now make a film based on the reality television series Bigg Boss under his home banner Hari Om Productions. According to sources, Akshay has decided to helm the cast of the film that will have at least 12 other actors in important roles.
A source informed Mumbai Mirror, "Like the reality show Bigg Boss, Akshay's film will have 13-14 inmates locked up in a house. The other actors have not yet been finalised."
In fact, Akshay is already in talks with a leading filmmaker to take on the directorial reins of the project. A formal announcement about the project will be made shortly.
A special set resembling the Bigg Boss house will be set up. The 13 contestants on the show will be essayed by various actors, while Akshay himself is likely to play the role of the host of the reality show.
"The film will be a thriller. A crime will be committed in the house that will get recorded on camera. Every contestant will be the suspect," revealed the source.
Explaining how Akshay decided to make a film on the TV reality show, a source said, "Akshay loves Bigg Boss. He has been thinking about making a film on similar lines. He has already got a writer on board, who has been working on the script for a while now."
Till date, Akshay has produced Singh is Kingg, Action Replayy, Khatta Meetha and Speedy Singhs. His next production Khiladi 786 starring himself and Himesh Reshammiya in the main roles, has been slated for a Diwali 2012 release. "The film based on the TV reality show will be one of his most ambitious projects till date. The thought of putting the show on a larger canvas is challenging and thrilling," added the source.
Akshay Kumar remained unavailable for comment.
