Anushka Sharma was born on May 1, 1988

Her father, Ajay Kumar Sharma, is an army officer. Says Anushka, 'I'm proud to be born as a soldier's daughter.'

Anushka was a successful model before entering Bollywood.

Anushka on modelling & acting: 'The only similarity between both these professions is that you need to look presentable in both. The hair, makeup, etc. The difference is that out there you're presenting it for the designer and here you're doing it for your director. Secondly, there is a lot more pleasure when you are a part of the film fraternity.'

Anushka made her debut in Shah Rukh Khan's 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'.

Shah Rukh Khan is Anushka's favourite Bollywood actor.

Anushka on Shah Rukh Khan: 'I'm Shah Rukh's true-blue admirer. I always loved the way he conducted himself. Now after having worked with him I love him even more. Rab Ne...was like my school where Shah Rukh and Adi were my teachers.'

She won the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'.

Her upcoming movie is 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl'.

On shifting base to Mumbai, 'I kept coming to Mumbai for modeling assignments. I decided to move into Mumbai a year ago with my mom, since my dad is posted out. I haven't bought my place. Right now I'm very comfortable in the army quarters. I don't feel the need to move from where I am.'

'I just say whatever comes to my mind. I am never on guard. I don't need to be because I'm heading the right way. I've got nothing to hide. I'm just too cool and love myself (laughs). I'm too straight-forward and people don't get that. Sometimes I get in trouble too,' says Anushka.

She is the brand ambassador of Vaseline.

Anushka has dated Ranveer Singh.
