Did Shah Rukh Khan really mean it when he said "I Love Kochi"?
The king of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan made waves across the state when he made his visit to Kochi on Sunday afternoon to inaugurate a textile showroom here. More than SRK, the crowd was on the pinnacle of excitement when they got a glimpse of the superstar. But, guess the excitement got squashed when the star left the premises unheeding the major concern of the Kochiites Mullaperiyar Dam.
A group of youngsters, who stood near the entrance of the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium holding placards and hoardings on the Mullaperiyar Dam issue, flashed it prominently to SRK, who was exiting the stadium waving and throwing flying kisses to his fans.
"He read the placard, but did not care to stop and ask or speak to us on this," said one among the group. Shah Rukh's promotional voice clip which had him saying "I Love Kochi" was constantly played during the event. But the irony is, a person who publically declared his love for the state and was pleased by the love of the people, did not care to bring light to the matter that are giving them sleepless nights."
Bollywood and some Mollywood stars have not raised their comment on the issue, probably fearing the hostility they would invite from Kollywood. The issue, which was a social concern initially, picked up its political pace weeks after the issue surfaced Kerala. Would these 35 lakh movie fans survive to watch the stars rocking the silver screen?
